Collage is a simple art form, anyone can do it. But it can develop into a complex an interesting form of expression that can be thoughtful and idea driven.
In this class we will build collages limited to a maximum of 10×10 inch format. We will use cut paper, vintage ephemera, old photos, tissue paper, water color and drawing, homemade modeling clay stamps, old letters, and postage stamps.
You are encouraged to create a stockpile of images by carefully cutting out as many pieces as you can during the first hour, so you should expect to be using your scissors or a knife. Bring good scissors or a sharp knife.
Participants will start with simple 1-10 element collages then move on to more complex multi element work.
Materials to bring: papers, old magazines, glue (Yes paste, Elmer’s), good scissors, tissue paper and any medium that might lend itself to collage. Please bring inexpensive paint brushes and your drawing implements.
Wood panels will be provided.
Beginning in October we ask for a $5 contribution towards the heating cost.
